Before we bought the Nagasawa Villa in 2024, the Nagasawa family had been living here for generations. We don’t know the age of the house, but have reason to believe that it dates back ,more than 100 years. We know the storage building (kura) on the site is over 130 years old, because the original builder signed and dated the roof beam. The Nagasawa’s had been prominent in the community and were likely some of the early adapters when skiing first came to Japan, and particularly Nagano in the early 1900’s.
We were very excited to not only buy a piece of Hakuba Valley history, but also become members of the Omachi community. We are also very excited to share this venerable home with our guests. To stay at Nagasawa Villa truly feels like you’ve stepped into a whole new world and a whole different time. Foreign, yet friendly and familiar. The Villa has been welcoming guests for generations.
